ONDCP Launches Meth PSAs
A series of new public-service announcements targeting methamphetamine use will be run in 22 cities seen as particularly affected by use of the drug.
The Associated Press reported Nov. 15 that John Walters, director of the federal Office of National Drug Control Policy, rolled out the ads in Springfield, Mo., this week. The ads warn viewers about the harm associated with meth labs and point them to a website for more information on the drug.
"The meth problem needs the individual contribution of more citizens in their neighborhoods and their communities," said Walters.
More meth labs are discovered in southwestern Missouri than anywhere else in the United States.
The ads, developed with the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, will run in Atlanta, Austin, Cedar Rapids, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Des Moines, Grand Rapids, Miami, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Minneapolis, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Francisco, Seattle, Savannah, Springfield, Mo., and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla.
